Dr. Katie Hughes
Katie Hughes, Ph.D., has experience synthesizing novel materials in search of superconductors and semiconductors with interesting magnetic and electronic properties. While earning her Ph.D. at Princeton, Katie focused on Solid State Synthesis, Materials Chemistry, and Magnetism. Her research interests include the improvement of the PowerFelt technology through techniques such as X-ray, neutron, and electron diffraction; magnetic susceptibility; resistivity; and heat capacity in addition to synthesizing laboratory samples and establishing our alpha line and pilot plant. Katie is on the board of Queen City Forward and is a mentor for numerous start-ups in the Charlotte region.
